TZTXL 16 with two transducer set up

I have a B175m thru hull and will be getting the 455 side scan transducer with the Furuno package. I was told the TZTxl 16 accepts two transducers. My question is can each work at the same time? If not do I need to change what transducer is used in the setting each time I want a specific one used? For example if I go bottom fishing I want the B175 rather than the transom mount 455 transducer. And when I’m inshore looking for stripers I want the side scan transducer used. I don’t know if I can set one transducer for 2d and the other for side and down imaging.
The Humminbird I have now, Apex16, selects the best transducer automatically for the water you’re in (it supposed to anyway, not sure if it really did or not).
Thanks

The B175M transmits at CHIRP ranges 85-135 kHz. The 455T transmits at CHIRP ranges 445-465 kHz. There should be not interference or conflicts in frequency if they transmit at the same time. You cannot display the two different transducers at the same time, unless you have multiple MFDs. Each MFD would have to have a different Fish Finder source selected to view both simultaneously on two displays.

I understand that. What I don’t know is how or if I can toggle between the two or assign each transducer to a different function like side scan and down scan for the 455 and the 2d to the b175m?

You could set up a display page with a split screen that has the side scan icon selected for one side and the fishfinder for the other. The manual is not completely clear on whether a B175M and a CHIRP side scan transducer can operate at the same time, however. It footnotes specific models of transducer (all dual frequency CHIRP transducers such as the B275LH) and says those cannot be used simultaneously with a CHIRP side scan transducer connected to the second transducer port. But it does not have the same footnote for the single frequency transducers such as the B175M or B175H. So that is either an error by omission or if you have a single frequency transducer connected to the regular XDR port, you can have a side scan transducer on the second port and operate them at the same time.

My guess is that there are not too many people out there who have just a single frequency on the regular XDR port so perhaps it is not an issue that comes up often. I think the Furuno guys should clarify this point, which is not described well in the installation manual.

In any case, you can certainly set up a display page for side scan and another for the fishfinder with the B175M and switch from one to the other. What isn't clear is what the unit does in that case -- does it stop transmitting to the one that is not selected?
