TZTouch2 with a TM258 transducer

I currently run a TZTouch2 12F with a TM258 transducer mounted on the transom. I recently did an update to version 6.26 with factory resets. I am having trouble with the sounder when fishing at 1600-2000 ft. It seems like it is unable to pick up fish on the bottom. Do I have the wrong transducer for the job? Or is it the whole setup that needs to be looked at?

Well.. The TZT2 uses a 10 pin transducer so maybe you have the wrong transducer for the unit. What is the history of the 12 pin transducer you are using, and how have you adapted it?

I have taken apart the fitting at the transom and the plugs are 9 pin. The plug at the TZT is 10 pin. This was professionally installed when I bought the boat new, although the first transducer Installed (P66) I wasn’t happy with, so they upgraded to this one and haven’t had much success in deep water

It sounds like you got an Airmar Mix and Match transducer. That part sounds perfectly fine. Maybe you can post some screen shots and let SNIPS take a look at it. That transducer has a really wide beam on the LF side so you might be losing a lot of power as it spreads out. Going that deep, I would turn off BD, Accufish, and rezboost and run LF only. I would run transmit pulse rate on maximum manual 20.

Thanks for the info, I will try that next time I’m out. I will post pics of a messy screen that appeared while idling at 429m which was replaced after a few seconds with the blank white screen. Another pic is from 25m which is much better.

Yes, some better pictures for SNIPS would be great. That last one seems to reflect a ton of RF noise being picked up by the sounder.
