Yes, you can use the DFF3D for Bottom Fishing, and I know of a Charter Boat out on the Oregon Coast that is using the DFF3D for Bottom Fishing very successfully. But keep in mind that the DFF3D is using a 165kHz Frequency so there are depth limitations of unit. You can expect to get 984 ft looking straight down, and 685 ft for the corners of the 120 degree beam width.

So if you plan on fishing deeper that that, then you'll need to consider adding a lower frequency transducer for use with the TZT3's Internal Sounder.
