TZT2BB versus TZT3

Is the TZT2BB a TZT2 or a TZT3?
I'm debating the BB versus MFD for my 40' express.
If its closer to a TZT3, How does the BB lack as compared to the TZT2 MFD's?

sdonx,

TZT2BB came out after the release of the TZT2 MFDs, and so with TZT2BB it's essentially using same type of the processor that's being currently being offered with TZT3.

So if you have a TZT2BB that's been updated with the V.7 Software, it mirrors all the features being offered with the TZT3 MFDs, including the ability of a "Quad Screen".

Just read this on another forum:
The TZT2BB will not be capable of pushing the additional wattage from 1KW to 2/3KW if the DEEP IMPACT amp is used.

Also when doing research I realized the TZT2BB does not have internal CHIRP.

The DI-FAMP can not be connected to a DFF-UHD only the TZT3 12/16/19 displays?

Is all the above correct?

sdonx,

Yes, you are correct you cannot connect the DI-FFAMP to a DFF1-UHD. You can only connect the DI-FFAMP (2kW/3kW amplifier) to the dual channel internal CHIRP Fish Finder of the TZT12F, TZT16F, or the TZT19F. only.

Also note that you cannot connect the DI-FFAMP to a TZT9F. And the reason is because internal CHIRP sounder offered in the TZT9F is only single channel. :noway

However, The TZT9F will display the DI-FFAMP sounder if it's connected to another TZT3's that within the network.

I looked at that for my boat. Unless you already have the monitors, the cost of buying two quality waterproof touch screen monitors with the sunlight viewable capability of a TZT3 MFD plus a TZTBB is more than two TZT3 16s especially adding the cost of a sounder box like the DFF1-UHD and a GPS source. Two MFDs also gives you redundancy.

+1 on the additional cost when shopping. My rep threw that out as an option when I was specing out my build. Liked the option of having redundancy as well.

Thanks Guys,
I have found monitor options that would fit my needs. My bridgedeck is enclosed so that opens up some less expensive options.
What is pushing me tyowards the tzt3 MFD's is the transducer options. See the answer below to a high kW question I had.
Hello sdonx,

Yes, you’re correct. If you're looking to add a High Power CHIRP transducer, 3KW R599LM, you will need the DI-FFAMP. The DI-FFAMP is only compatible to direct connect and use with a TZT3 display (TZT12F/TZT16F/TZT19F).

This has been my perspective as well. It'd be nice to have a TZT3BB and screens, but the pricing is such that for my upgrade using two TZT3-16 is a better choice at the moment.

I've got four MFD12 displays (2 up, 2 down) and would love to have something with the combined features of the TZT2BB and the TZT3. Let me install two BB units and then four displays. But with the price-points on the displays... it's more cost-effective to use the TZT3-16 units instead.

I went that route as well. Except that I partially upgraded.
I added a 16F and will keep my two 19" displays on my MFDBB NN3D. I will wait and maybe get one more 16F per year for a total of three and finish the handoff to the TZT3.
