TZT2 Transducer

I have a TZT2 15 inch hooked to a airmar 744 transducer. I fish in NJ and for 90 per cent of the time I am in 200 ft or less. 31 foot twin diesel boat. This ducer works well for my needs. The big issue is that I loose the bottom when up on plane. Going to bite the bullet and remove and patch hole and relocate the transducer. Looking at the b60, any take on this setup?

Thanks
John

Jcjp,
Is your 744 using a fairing block? Most of the time a transducer that is using a fairing block will have better performance at speed than a flush mount one. If you start to see gaps in the bottom on 50Khz as you gain speed then you need to look at where the transducer is currently mounted.

I have two airmar 744s with blocks. Both are in the same spot ( opposite sides ) on deep v boat. Both lose bottom after 12 knots or so. Drifting, trolling they work fine. Whom ever installed them twenty years ago screwed up. I am planning on removing then fiber glassing both holes.
Thinking about relocating a B60 closer to and away from the running strakes that I believe are affecting the two 744s. B 60 any good?

Jcjp,
The transducer element in the B-60 is the same as is used in the 744. This means at the dock their performance should be equal. The main difference is that the B-60 is in a flush housing and the 744 uses a fairing block. I would be curious to see how your fairing blocks are mounted, can you post a couple of picture for me?
