Tzt14 vs tzt2

I have a tzt2 at my helm and was wondering if a tzt14 would work as a second unit at my aft helm or do I need to get another tzt2? Do they speak the same language? Thanks

Hi Moges737,

Mixing of Navnet TZT1 and TZT2 is allowed. However, there are some limitations due to various generations/features of the those two units.

As Kicker said they are currently compatible to be mixed together. Many here on the forum have mixed systems.

I know many have “mixed systems” I have just been told by furuno reps before at the boat show that only a tzt2 would talk to a tzt2. I wanted to make sure this would be compatible as another fully controllable head and not just a repeater like an ipad

I will give you a couple common popular feature differences between TZT1 and TZT2.

TZT2 offers CMOR charting and TZT1 does not offer CMOR charting.
TZT2 has a YAMAHA engine interface, TZT1 does not.

Something to consider for the future. Furuno USA might have some future sensors that may be compatible with TZT2 and not TZT1. Depending on how you use your unit, these future sensors/features may affect you or not.
