What is the normal setting for heading damping to get the chart stable when use of heading up.

I would ask them what smoothing works best. Too much smoothing of the heading might cause pilot steering delays etc. The lower smoothing the better but it shouldn't be unstable heading. Delayed heading and unstable heading won't work very well for just about anything.

The reason i ask is that I must have 10-20sec in damping depending on sea. After testing hardware I think it depends on the software in TZT.

A boat can move a lot a degrees in 20 seconds. Hopefully you are not using it for something like an autopilot. If you are smoothing it for only radar overlay; it might skew more than average on turns but it should work okay. I wouldn't use it for ARPA or an autopilot. I would seek out a more stable source if it needs that much smoothing.

Yes I agree this works badly, I have tested two other sources with the same result. I think it´s something wrong with the software in the TZT. If you have a look at the video in the link below, it is not a TZT but TimeZero and my TZT behave like this.

Furuno has been selling the TZT since 2012, I can assure you that isn't a TZT software issue or we would have a ton of customers upset. That is crazy bad. Having it with two different products (both Nobeltec and Furuno) tells me this needs more thought / troubleshooting. I recommend you contact your dealer and try a good source of heading like a good quality SAT compass.

Thrane LT-1000 is a good quality compass and also Airmar GH2183 should be good enough for this. I have been in contact with my Furuno dealer and they have tried to help me without success. I still think the problem is the software in the TZT. To tell the truth I´m quite tired of my expensive Furuno.

The Furuno products pricing is now in line with most competitors in some cases lower. This forum is not for grinding axes. If you are having problems with your distributor or dealer please contact Furuno's official support channels and elevate the issue to management that can assist you.
