Tz3 internal fish finder vs fcv 588

I do not have experience with the FCV588 but I did have a 585 before moving to a TZT3.

My 585 was firing a thru-hull B164 transducer. When upgrading to a TZT3 12" and 9" combo, I retained the B164 and hooked it up to the 9" TZT3.

Couple of things I have noticed

1) it seems slower than the FCV 585.
2) The B164 doesn't take advantage of accu fish, bottom discrimination, or rezboost, so it was a good apples to apples comparison of traditional 50/200 sonar on the 585 vs the 164.

I miss the discrete depth range choice selection of the 585. The twist / pinch zoom in zoom out of the TZT3 is really annoying and I don't like it. I wish I could just lock it to a depth and let it be.... maybe at a future update.

The TZT3 at times makes me feel like it's just designed to be set in auto mode and "look pretty" when it comes to the fish finder settings. Sometimes It is very powerful though. The returns it shows are still very very strong, I just wish they could make it more like a stand alone unit in its overall ability to be dialed in on a single discrete setting.

Leave the auto mode for the newbies, but let us power users have the full capability to go on a power trip with furuno!!!!!!!!!!!!
