Hello,

I'm looking for help on how to transfer waypoints on a Garmin to a Furuno TZT3. I've pulled up a waypoint on the Garmin and manually input the lat/long numbers? into the TZT3. When looked at on the TZT3 chart the transferred spot is located miles away. I get the impression that they are reading lat/long in different ways. Is there a conversion to get the Furuno to read the Garmin numbers.

I prefer to do the transfer manually as it will help me clean up the waypoint list and use better names. I have hundreds of marks, but when looked at closely the same spots have been marked many times (fish were really biting well). Any help would be appreciated.

download your way points onto a usb using gpx format then use the usb to upload them onto your furuno
Here's a breakdown of the process:
1. Exporting Data from Garmin:
  • Using Garmin Connect:
    • Sign in to your Garmin Connect account.

    • Navigate to the activity or data you want to export (e.g., Activities, Courses, etc.).

    • Select the specific item (activity, course, etc.).

    • Look for a settings or export option (usually a gear icon) and select it.

    • Choose the GPX format (or other compatible format if available) and download the file to your computer.
    • Open the Garmin Explore app.

    • Navigate to the saved data you want to export (e.g., Saved > Courses, Tracks, Routes, etc.).

    • Select the data and then choose the share option.

    • Select the GPX format and choose your preferred method for saving or sharing (email, etc.).
2. Importing Data into Furuno:
  • Using an SD Card:
    • Check your Furuno chartplotter's manual for supported data formats and SD card requirements.
    • Transfer the GPX file (or other compatible file) to an SD card.
    • Insert the SD card into your Furuno unit.
    • Navigate to the import or data transfer section of your Furuno's menu.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to import the data from the SD card.
    • For older models, you might need a serial NMEA 0183 connection between your computer and the Furuno chartplotter.
    • You'll likely need specialized software like GPSU (GPS Utilities) to facilitate the data transfer.
    • Refer to your Furuno chartplotter's manual and the software documentation for detailed instructions.
