I have a Vx2, with BBFF-1 sounder, and not sure of the transducer (thru hull with fairing). Temp reading has been out even with previous MFD, but now depth reading is jumping all over the board. Would you expect this is the transducer, and if so, which would you suggest as best value replacement in shallow Gulf waters?

The temp problem is most likely caused by the transducer but the rest of the transducer might be fine. How to ohm out the transducer and test the temp sensor has been discussed many times on this forum. Have you tried checking it with a meter?
