My new tzt2 touch screen performance really lags or doesn't respond when trying to access the menus from any of the 4 borders. Touch functions are fine between borders. Anyone else have this problem? Will a capacitive stylus help?

I don't see a capacitive stylus being any different for swiping that what you can do with your finger. If all the other functions are fine except swipe, the it might be how you are doing your swipe. You need to start at the very edge of the display and not take your finger off as you swipe to the middle. If you still have problems, you might see if your dealer can take a quick look at it.

I have the same issue, on both of my displays. I typically just go HOME instead of swiping down from the top and my data bar on the left stays up constantly, so its mainly the swiping from the right and from the bottom that is a pain. I have grown used to it, after about 10 or more swipes I can usually get it to eventually work.

One other thing you could take a look at is your software version.
V3.01 (the most up to date software) incorporated better touch responsiveness, also impoved the response of the edge swipe touch function as well.

With that being said the TZT2 edge swipe function works best by touching the black edge and swiping with a nice fluid motion from the edge of the screen to the middle point of the LCD screen.

Too fast of a swipe and the menu will not respond.
Too slow of a swipe and the menu will sometimes not respond.
The best way I can explain it is swiping from the edge to the center of the screen for about a half a second to one second in time

Hope this kind of clears the air on how the use the edge swipe function on the TZT2

I have experienced the same issue with the swiping. It worked very well up until I did the 3.01 update what was supposed to "enhance" the swiping. It really seemed to make it much less responsive.

It was explained to me by a Furuno tech similar to what DBCooper posted. But for me it works maybe 1-2 times out of 10. I believe the update did something that degraded the performance, because prior to the update, it worked very well!

Anytime you upgrade software I recommend that the unit be factory cleared. (backing up your settings and points prior of course)

What DB Cooper posted is right on. It is critical to start at the outer edge of the black border, hold for a second or two and swipe without releasing until you get to mid screen. My success went from 1 out of 10 to 9 out of 10 and without the chartplotter moving instead. Also heard from a Furuno tech here in Seattle that the touchscreen isn't as sensitive as other touch screens (like an ipad) as it is a thicker glass due to marine requirements.

Also, just finished a two week trip in some rough weather. A capacitive stylus really helped for tapping on points of interest, etc as improved accuracy over my rather large finger while underway. Bought the rubber tipped stylus for a few bucks on amazon.
