TM54 - Installation Position

I am trying to figure out the best place to install a TM54 on my Angler 2600. I have twin motors, so the manual recommends installing between the motors. However, if I install it just to the left of the drain, part of the transducer will be behind a bronze thru-hull.

See attached photo that shows the proposed installation location and dimensions to thru-hulls and strakes.

Any recommendations? Do I put it directly on the centerline?

FishN4Dad,
Excellent job detailing transom. Some drains have an actual plug and others are more of a check value. If you have the check valve arrangement one idea is to add a slight bigger mounting block that would allow the water to drain but would allow the transducer to be mounted lower and on the center-line.

Thank you for your fast response Snips. The drain is a typical bronze garboard drain. I will measure how much the drain protrudes from the transom to see what the clearance would be with the transducer installed closer to the centerline. Is there a minimum install distance from metal objects (drain plug)?

fishN4Dad,
A transducer isn't like a compass where you need to keep a certain distance away from a metal object. If you have a true removeable drain plug you may not be able to do my suggestion. Your original thought will work to a certain speed before it will start to be affected by turbulence.
