Splicing Network Cable?

Mistakenly cut the ethernet network cable going to my tower.
While I can do it, it will be a bit of a pain to run a new cable up to the tower.

Is it ok to splice one of these cables to recconect to the hub?

An issues w resistance and communication?

Thanks

How far along is the cut? I would not recommend it because those wires are small.

Do you have enough length to just add a RJ45 connector at the cut and crimp it?

I agree if you have enough length, just crimp on a metal RJ45 (for shielded type cable) and rock and roll. Spicing might become an RF filter for the high speed communication data.

Not long enough but I could crimp on a connector and put a coupler on for another short cable to reach the HUB.

Does it have to be a shielded connector? or what If I replaced w an unshielded cable?

You must used shielded cable and shielded connectors to ensure proper grounding and EMI avoidance. A junction/extension would be better than a splice in my opinion.
