Sounder and GPS Suggestions in US

I have a small 21' boat that I need to set up a Fish finder and a GPS map.
I have had the Furuno 295 which is the best thing I've ever had.
I was looking at the Furuno 588 and a 1K transducer but need something for Mapping,GPS.

Iam limited on space.
Is there a Furuno combo unit that has the Fish finder as good as the 588.
I see units like the Furuno 1971F GPS/Fishfinder.
Are they as good as the 588 on the fish finder side..?
Or should I buy the 588 and then find a small gps ?
Any help would be great...

The FCV588 has more sounder circuits than the GP1971F but the results are very comparable. Based on your limited space and the need for a plotter, it sounds like a difficult choice. You could always get the FCV588 as the sounder and the smaller GP1871F as the plotter. This would give you a backup sounder source if ever needed.

Johnny Electron....Will the GP1971F accept Engine data from a etec outboard.
Such as RPM, Fuel consumption , Water Pressure etc.

Does the etec outboard offer a NMEA 2000 connection?

Then it sounds like it is setup for NMEA 2000 and should work fine.
