Software Update?

When I started up my TZT3 16F units today, they asked if I wanted to update he software over the air. I did and it loaded fishfinder software and unit v3.80.1.

I am slightly puzzled because the support page on the Furuno USA website does not show a v3.80.1 update available to download or describe its features and it is not reflected in the software history.

What does the new update do?

Good question @Quitsa thanks for asking. It is a minor update to make a correction to the TVG (time variable gain) of the internal sounder. Apparently one of the prior versions messed it up slightly. There have been no complaints but the mistake was found and they are fixing it back. For those not using the internal sounder it really won't do anything for you. Those with the sounder are likely to see some improvement on the TVG performance.

That's interesting because I was offshore in deeper water the other day and was trying various TVG settings. It didn't have the effect that I expected. Actually it seemed to have almost no effect. I was using the internal sounder in a TZT3 16" with a B175H. I am curious to see if any change is apparent next time I am out there.
