Software Update for GP-1871F?

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am currently using C‑Map charts on my GP‑1871, but I plan to switch and use Navionics+ charts in the future. My Furuno is running software version 4.0, so this should not pose any problem. However, should I still upgrade to the new firmware version 5.3? As far as I know, this version disables the device’s Wi‑Fi. Why is that, actually? Would an upgrade offer me any advantages, such as improved Navionics support, for example in autorouting?

v5.3 software upgrade posted on the Furuno USA website (FurunoUSA.com) will not remove Wi-Fi, if you upgrade to it. It is version 5.4 that does that and if that software is needed it can be obtained at Furuno.com.
