Single TZT22X - Recommendations for Navigational Backup

Good evening. I'm upgrading my TZT2 12's (twins) to a single TZT22X on my Seavee 29. I'm researching using an ipad as a backup navigational aid in case the TZT22X went down especially when going back and forth in the islands. I also have a Garmin Inreach that I use so my wife can track my location and serves as a backup EPIRB.

Has anyone used the Garmin Earthmate App with Noaa charts to do this?

Would appreciate anyone with real world experience.

Seeing that you are looking at using an iPad as a back up, you will want to take a look at TZ iBoat (https://mytimezero.com/tz-iboat). If you purchase TZ MAPS on your TZT22X, that license will also unlock the chart on TZ iBoat.
