I went through that drama too trying to figure out how to do it. I believe the card slot is for your maps that come with the unit, including the the locked ones. What you want to do is use a flash drive and stick it in the USB connector cable. The same USB cable that connects the remote joy stick. You can back up all your points there.

I have been trying to back up the waypoints and it says no device found or something like that. I am using a thumb drive. Don't know why this has to be this hard but what do I need to do to back the unit up? It will not work as the instructions say.

It sounds like a problem with the jump drive you are using or the formatting that it was formatted to. Try another jump drive. Backing up the points take very little space.

I have tried it 2 ways now, unsuccessfully. I used a thumb drive and it said no device found(I think). 2nd attempt, I used a 2GB SD card in a USB adapter and it simply said download failed...or something like that. I am just trying to back up my waypoints and routes. Why is this so hard?

Have you tried a different jump drive adaptor? You are correct it isn't hard. Unless you have had some water issues and the connection is green, it should work when you get a proper adapter with chip or just a standard jump drive. If it still doesn't work for you then it might be time to talk to your dealer.

Brand new unit. No corrosion. No dealer, which is the biggest problem. Bottom line, I am on my own. Both the thumb drive and the card and adapter I tried work everywhere I have tried them except the TZT2. Is there something special about them that I need to work with the TZT2?
