ok to mount SCX20 under the radar, not directly but to the side. I wanted to mount to the top on my mast but need to be 3 feet from VHF anntena.

It isn't a good ideal to put anything over the top of your sat compass or to shade it from seeing Sats. While the SCX20 can be forgiving, I can't say it won't be a problem. Can you get at least two feet from the VHF up top? It seems that would be the lesser of the two evils.

I am in the process of purchasing the SCX20 unit. I have a CC and will be adding a radar next year.

Where is the ideal spot to mount this on a CC? I saw somebody mentioned 3ft away from antenna? My radar will be mounted towards the front of the hard top. Directly behind on the left side is the antenna...and then slightly further back on each side are the outriggers.

Are there any ideal locations on CCs for mounting? Any specific restrictions on where NOT to mount?

TIA

Dan

The installation manual has a lot of locatational information you might want to look at. Overall when it comes to radar you want the SCX20 outside the beam. Many times this means mounting it near the radar but below the beam of the radar. NMEA 0400 installation standards also has published recommended distances from diffrent types of antennas.
