Rudder sensor water resistance

I'd like to know if the rudder sensor included in the Navpilot 711 installation is water resistant - right now mine is installed in the lazarette beside the piston that drive the rudder, but it happened during a harsh crossing that some seawater droplets were splashing inside the lazarette (through the drain holes when some wave came hitting from the back).

thanks

The rudder sensor is rated IPX5 which means protected against water jets - Water projected at all angles through a 6.3mm nozzle at a flow rate of 12.5 liters/min at a pressure of 30kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.

I can tell you that water damaged rudder sensors have been a very rare issue. Your mounting location should be fine.

Thanks Melville - this is very good information and i'm glad they are built to survive some water splash or light immersion!
