Replacement Autopilot Recommendation

My existing SIMRAD (2003 era) is on its last legs so want to replace it with the appropriate Furuno AP to go with my dual TZTouch 14's, radar, depth, et al Furuno suite that was installed new in 2015 by the previous owner. My vessel is a Novatec 55 (62' LOA) displacing ~60,000lbs with twin Cummins QSM11 635HP engines and straight shaft propulsion.

Have reviewed various Furuno offerings but get lost in all the acronyms, product names, and features. Don't quite know what autopilot would go with my vessel. Thanks in advance for any info you can offer.

Based on boat size and needs, you would be looking at the Navpilot 711C. Do you know what pump model or flow diverter that is currently being used?

My current autopilot is a SIMRAD (Richardson) AP-20, J300X controller, RPU160 pump, RF300 rudder feedback unit, and a Capilano BA200-7TM hydraulic ram on the rudders.

Thanks

Yes, you would want the Navpilot 711C. It will run that pump direct without problems. The RRU would be replaced with the included FAP6112 RRU.

Thanks, Johnny - I didn't mention earlier but I believe the problems with the current install is the pump (got an over current alarm) and the fluxgate compass (which on occasional causes the autopilot to drift a degree a second until I power it down and up again) so I am thinking an entire replacement is the way to go. Given that, what other pieces of the Furuno offering (pump/flux gate) are the correct parts for my size boat. Really appreciate your guidance.

Excellent - 12VDC system. Which fluxgate compass? Also, is there a package that I would buy with all these items or do I purchase them individually?

The Navpilot 711C comes with a PG700 fluxgate.
No package(s) for this. You would buy the NavPilot 711C and then add the pump to the order; if you wish to replace the existing one.

Digging in further over the holiday. Saw that the 300 series has a wireless remote control but don't see it with the 711C. If no wireless is there a wired remote? My simrad has a hardwired small joystick mounted to my captain's chair which is very convenient once I engage the autopilot. Only used for steering adjustments. Looking for a more fully functional remote - wired or wireless. Thanks!

Thanks - They look like ancient technology compared with the 300 series. :) I was hoping to see one that had similar controls to those on the actual head unit...just on a remote that I can put at the helm seat. ;)

I guess the spring-loaded lever would be similar to the SIMRAD joystick I currently have...

I appreciate your help.
