My new to me MFD has a number of looks like dead pixels in the upper right corner. I looked at the image posting and it looks like only through a hosted URL.

Is it possible to replace the LCD? And, can I purchase one for self install?

Thanks,
Hammerhead

Depending on the serial number the LCD might be available but it would be very expensive. Most of the older models wont have that possibility because there are no OEM panels available. I would recommend getting with some of the companies who rebuild these units with aftermarket LCDs. I know I have saw several on thehulltruth.com who say they can rebuild them for about half the cost of a new panel.

IS there any possibility Furuno would give me a copy of the build sheet for this unit. I have replaced many of these in my particular line of work and am very educated on LCD screen replacement. I would need to see the screen type, size, mount hole and resolution or pixel count, connectors and CCFL info in order to research the replacement unit.

The VX2 never had a Service Manual and it would only be available to dealers, if it did. The installation manual does have detailed instructions on taking the unit apart in the appendix where it shows how to install some of the accessory items like an ARPA board.

Based on my research so far, the VX2 10.4" display was modified to support LED backlighting sometime around May 2011. Can you tell me what year the VX2 10.4" was no longer manufactured?
Based on the Firmware upgrade info, the model number for an LED backlight started at 4323-5001. Is this the only prefix used on LED backlit displays (4323)?

Thank you,
Bonn

Sales of the 10.4" Vx2 ended roughly in late 2013.
No they also had a newer prefix 4326-xxxx but I think it was older and before the LCD change.
If you PM me the serial number, I can check the age of your unit.
