RD33

Water current and direction as listed under the fishery sub menu described in the RD-33 owners manual 3-6...

You would need a current device like the Furuno CI68 that can put out current information that the RD33 accepts like the 0183 sentence "CUR".

Is there any other stand alone sensor etc that can detect and output CUR via 0183 or preferably 2000??

The CI 68 is cost prohibitive.

That is what Furuno sells. Most people use STW (water based speed) to get a good idea of currents along with predictions of currents using the chart data. The currents you are talking about is a bit more complex and it takes special equipment, not a simple paddle wheel.

Ok, didn’t know if there was some sort of ultrasonic thru hull or something that would do the job.

Got a recommendation for a bronze thru hull speed and very accurate temp? Would it need a fairing block or flush mount? Nmea2000 preferred...

Thanks

Phil

You might talk to your dealer. They should be able to source a suitable unit for your boat from Gemeco/Airmar that is NMEA 2000 with High-Precision Temp Sensor. Furuno USA carries the 0183 version but we don't appear to carry the NMEA 2000 version of it.
