Question concerning maps/charts:

Skipper

New member
New member here. I have the Furuno Navnet TZ2 in my boat. I recently updated my system with the new release. No issues there.

My question(s) relate to the charts. I think I have a good set of charts for where I fish (the PNW), at least it seems that way. One of the charts in the catalog I recently got an unlock code for was a fishing chart. It is # FISHNA025V1.1. My questions are:
1. Other than entering the unlock code, what else do I have to do to activate it?
2. What is a "fishing chart"? I don't see anything new or different from what I had before (i.e. my chart plotter still shows depth contours etc. just the same as before)
3. What other information is supposed to be included in the "fishing chart"? What should I be seeing? (I was kind of expecting fishing spots or something I guess)

Anyone have any experience with these kind of charts?

I have not tried that particular chart. Typically the fishing chart has a different sensibility for contour lines (more or in different areas) and fewer nav aids or land details. When you swipe up you should be able to choose the chart in use.

Fishing chart (like FishNAxx) is fishing bathy (bathy line chart) but if you wish to have Navigation chart you would need to flip over to S57 or other purchased chart like Cmap Navigation. Currently, if you buy the Cmap Navigation chart and they have a bathy chart for the same area, they give you that fishing chart (bathy) free. If you buy just the bathy chart then you wouldn't have the Navigation map from them. For navigation you can always use the free NOAA/S57 or raster maps.

Thanks! Good info.
