Pump recommendation

Hello we will be installing a nav pilot 300 in a 28' center console with dual stations. It has twin mercury verados with a single steering cylinder. Currently there is 2.0l garmin pump.

Can you recommend the best pump? Unfortunately the steering ram has been painted and we cant get any model numbers off of it.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

There is very little infomation on that pump documented. I scrubbed the internet. Calling Garmin support they said it will normally pull 5-10 amps continuous; peak is 34 amps. That is a crazy surge at peak and the NAVpilot 300 won't do that. If not for that, it might have worked. Maybe this is why it isn't published information. It was worth a shot considering. Given the 10-24 Cubic inch existing model; you would want to pick up the Furuno/Octopus PUMPOCT16-12 (12-23 ci). It is quiet and pulls about 5 amps continuous running about half the cost of that other one. Maybe you can sell that to cover the cost of the replacement since it still works.
