Hello
my AIS Furuno FA50 doesn't function. The red led flashes 20 seconds and then stay fix. What is the problem ? And how can I fix it please? I have tried to plug my computer but it doesn't recognise it no more ?!
Thanks for your help.

The "ER" LED lights up in red when an error in ROM/RAM or transmit circuit is detected. This means there is a hardware failure. It would be more cost effective to replace the FA50 with another AIS. The FA50 has been replaced by the FA70.

Thank you for your answer. My FA50 was connected to a HUB 101 which is feeding all info to Navnet and TZ. I heard that the FA70 does not have this ouput anymore. How can I proceed ? Do you have an idea ?
For additional info, some weeks ago a wrong IP address was put in my PC by someone ... No possibility (like I have today) to address the FA50 from a pc. I solved that by a procedure described in a technical book (S4-#2 to ON, switch off and than again OFF). This has worked very well since I got this new problem ? I of course tried the same without success this time.
Many thanks for your help and advice.

I also have a FA50 AIS, when I log via pc, the the status is "Silent Mode" . How do i change that to "live" mode when we power the unit up.
Thank you in advance

It's not actually in silent mode unless you have a silent switch wired to the FA50 and it is engaged. The menu items referring to silent mode are only for allowing silent mode to be activated with a physical silent switch. The only other reason might be that you need to update the software. If you haven't updated the software since May 2021, then updating it may fix your problem. Here's a link to the page where the software and instructions are located: https://www.furunousa.com/en/support/FA50

What model number NAVnet do you have? If it's a TZ Touch series, then you'll just connect the FA70 via NMEA2000. If it's a NAVnet 3D, NMEA0183 output would be connected.

Since you have the red ER light, I would still recommend replacing it. But, to address your comment about connecting via PC and IP addresses...To connect the FA50 to a Windows computer to access its settings, use the information in section 1.8 of the Operator's Manual. Basically, it states to ensure your computer has a static IP set to 172.31.24.100 in order to connect to the FA50. Once that static IP is set, then you can use a web browser to access the FA50 by entering 172.31.24.3. If you have a TZ Touch series NAVnet, you can simply access the FA50 settings from its menu.

If the FA50 still was working, then connecting to the TZ software (assuming that's what you mean by TZ), static IP 172.31.3.150 should be used.
