pg700 heasding sensor failure

I have a PG700 with nn3d and 700c auto pilot. I get heading sensor failure showing red status light with CALIB and CHECK lights off. I unplug the nmea cable and reconnect and all green lights work for about 5 min and then the heading alarms go off again bake into default.

How can I check to see sensor is good?
second problem is the nn3d chart does not line up with radar intermittently with about a 20 degree difference.

Ideally I would love to pay a service guy on long island to fix if anyone has recommendation.

The radar not lining up is related to not having correct heading information. The error light on the compass is a good indication you have an issue going on with it. The most common problem with flux gates is the placement. Did something metal, or electrical get placed near it since it previously worked well? Pumps, motor fishing reels, steel toe boots, you name it can pull a compass. I would take an NMEA 2000 cable and connect it to power only by itself at home or someplace away from everything and let it run. See if it still errors out or not. The PG700 rarely sees any real issues (other than placement) unless it gets water intrusion issues. There is a very good dealer near you called Precision Marine. They are in New Rochelle, phone number 914-235-4023.
