p66 versus tm150m

I just purchased my first Furuno (1871) and got the p66 transducer. I mostly fish in gulf between 100 and 200 ft. of water. Should I get the tm150m (chirp) or is the p66 sufficient. I also run a Simrad go7xsr that has chirp. Worried about interference between the 2 units if both are chirp.

jpwalnuthill,

The transducer specifications that AIRMAR P66 claim for their transducer is 50/200 kHz at 600 Watts of power, providing you 1200' of depth on the 50kHz side, and 700' of depth on the 200kHz side for bottom detection.

The specifications for the TM150M Chirp Transducer is 95-155 kHz at 300 Watts, and it will give you a 600' overall performance depth. So you get 60 kHz of total bandwidth from this transducer designed for inshore or coastal fishing. The narrow beam angle will detect fish holding close to any structure or suspended fish, ideal for freshwater, inshore or coastal fishing in shallow to medium depths

So the P66 is going to get you much deeper depths, using its Dual Frequency capability, and the TM150M, is going to provide you better target separation at the shallower depths with its CHIRP frequencies. However, you will not have any "Bottom Discrimination" which classifies Rock, Sand, Mud, and Gravel. including Accufish capabilities with this transducer.

Hope this helps..? :)
