Have an FCV 628 and P66 transducer. Have seen the clear warnings in the manual saying not to operate out of the water and I am careful not to, until yesterday. Forgot to turn the power off before retrieving boat and 3 1/2 hrs later in 100degrees of full sun I noticed the unit was still running. Turned it off and hoped for the best. When I launch for an evening fish later the FCV628 worked perfectly as it has ever since. I really did think that I would have cooked the transducer at least as it was 2ft above hard ground, but all is obviously OK.
I dont plan to use this as a licence to run it out of the water but thought others might be interested.
