NN3D and OpenCPN/Laptop

Has anyone been able to successfully connect OpenCPN to the NN3D system? What's involved?

My first guess didn't work out (run Ethernet cable from my Furuno HUB-101 to PC, start OpenCPN). I poked around with Wireshark on the laptop and didn't see anything obvious, but I was a little distracted at the time.

Would love to be able to plan routes on OpenCPN then push waypoints over the network to NN3D. Currently I have tedious process of exporting/importing/file conversion/merging.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Erik

You would need a software development kit to access the Furuno network data. If you are a developer, contact your distributor directly to purchase one.

Thanks -- I didn't know that an SDK was even an option.

It turns out, plugging in a laptop to the Hub-101 and manually setting the IP address to be in the same range as the MFD, allows the laptop to see the broadcast'd network packets coming from the MFD. These network packets are pretty much NMEA 0183 and can be read via openCPN and other applications.

If anyone needs details, just send me a message.
