There is some confusion on what transducers will work with these new units.

According to Airmar MED bandwidth CHIRP is not working. IS this true? As all the documents show otherwise.. it would make sense as Furuno does not offer a "MED" CHIRP option with DFF1UHD for instance..

Thanks

The DFF1-UHD and the sounder in the GP1871F/GP1971F are not the same and are totally different animals. The unit currently supports H or L Chirp transducers, or 50/200 models that we list on our website under the product page - accessories - transducers. Support for Medium Chrip transducers is planned with the next version of software. Those transducers will be added to the compatible accessories list at that time.

I am well aware of what products you list under "the product page - accessories - transducers".

But if I was to go by the transducer you have listed on website, I would have customers with transducers installed that do not work. Furuno has a bunch of MED CHIRP models on website still, on press releases, and on brochures. You also have B75L listed as a part number on your website. Which is like having a Model / Part # "DRS" as there are multiple "DRS" scanners or multiple B75L. Is it 0,12,or 20? You do not list 20 degree versions on your website. The confusing list goes on and on. What transducers are you going to add per "Those transducers will be added to the compatible accessories list at that time."

When is the "planned" software version going to be released. This month, this summer, 2018 or 2019?

However I fired both the 1871 and 1971 up last week. They are pretty cool units. impressed by the quickness, real easy to use interface and customizability like the TZtouch series. But just need to clear up confusion before we start shipping and having dealers install wrong ducers.

If you are a Furuno dealer or re-seller you should be talking to official support. Identified dealer can be given special status here where they can answer posts. You can contact your Regional Manager for details.

As moderators we speak for Furuno USA. Those outside our sales and service area are welcome here for unofficial support. For anything official, please contact your distributor in your area.

Furuno USA does not plan to carry all of the variations of every possible transducer that will connect to these sounders. Many different tilts and varieties will be available to dealers via companies like Gemeco and as a result the customer can have many other choices. The ones listed under our product page are the ones we sale and we suggest.

It would be really hard to get one of the medium transducer listed under the product because we haven't sold any, nor will we until the next version of software is available. If you are not in Furuno USA's area; please talk to your distributor about their plans and policies. We haven't been given an official release date of the next version but as I understand it should be in the next three months. Everything is subject to change.

You are correct it is a very good unit. I was also impressed with it's value and speed. For those wishing to run medium band CHIRP will have to wait on the transducer and software availability.

As a follow up on this, I must make a correction. It is only the 1Kw medium band transducers that must wait for the next software update. The unit is good with the other lower power models.
