Network Sharing

It is not clear from the brochure or installation manual what happens when an XL unit and a TZT3 are on the same ethernet network. It would seem that network hardware such as a radar sensor or black box sounder would be accessible by all units, just as happens today with TZT3 and TZT2 units. But what happens with everything else such as the charts, navigation to waypoints, etc?

Sensors should share exactly like other mix systems allow; as you said. We don't know all the details until TZT3 v3.7 releases. The one thing we know it won't do is share TZ Maps. TZ Maps at this point are only for XL. The chart master can share unlock licence on MM3 mapping to everyone on the mixed network. I don't know how waypoints and routes will share until we get the software but I expect the same way they normally do. I expect auto routing once saved as an established route on an XL would share to everyone on the network. I guess we will see once the software releases.

Has any additional information been shared with how a TZT3 system might add an XL? I'd like to avoid needing separate networks.

XL has a small update of software planned to go public in next 30 days that works hand and hand with new TZT3 software planned to release also in the next 30 days. TZT3 and XL will play together for routes etc just like an entire TZT3 network normally would. No need to have them on separate networks unless there are other larger reasons to. (Like too many MFDs etc) When the software gets posted I will drop something in the Furuno News here on the forum. It will be a wifi update for both systems but a download will also be available if needed. I am looking forward to seeing the mix and the improvements made.
