Just bought a new to me boat. Had previously had a Furuno 1815 radar and a navnet touch 2 on old boat. This boat has a NAVnet VX2 with radar. The chart plotter and radar seem to be good. Not sure it has a sounder. Can someone help me with what to do. I would like to eventually get a Navnet touch 3, but not in the budget right now. Am I going to be disappointed with this set up? What do I need to add for a sounder? ( fish less than 100 feet) Updates that might need to be done? Best charts for the Chesapeake Bay?
Any and all help appreciated.

I would first run the sounder self test to see if the system appears to already have a sounder or not. The Vx2 is a good system but getting a little long in the tooth. If you wanted to add a sounder to it, you could use the BBDS1 (using it like it was the older DFF1) then the BBDS1 could also be used after you upgrade to the TZT3. C-map charts are the only real option with Vx2 now. You would want to update the machine to the newest version of software 4.03 for C-map and purchase a C-map Max chip for the coast you live.

Thank you Johnny. How do I run the self test to see if it has a sounder or not? I will look into the c-map Max chip for it.
Thanks again for all the info.

MENU - SYSTEM CONFIG - SYSTEM SETUP - TEST and CLEAR - SYSTEM I/O TEST - NETWORK SOUNDER TEST.

Does it run the test or does it jump back to the menu?
