Need for wide angle R-509 If I have DFF3D?

I am about to upgrade my whole sonar setup and was planning on putting a R-509LHW in place of the 1kw traditional trsansducer on my port side.

And replacing DFF1-UHD Chirp on Stbd Side w a DFF3D

I have 2 questions regarding this as I want to make sure I get this right.

1. W the added sensitivity of the R-509 should I expect similar or better than Chirp target discrimination on mid column targets?

2. If I am utilizing a DFF3D for shallow (80-300') bottom wreck fishing and upper to mid column fish and bait detection, do I really need the "High Wide" version of the 509 or just stick to the LH standard and take advantage of the higher power in the HF range ?

Thanks

Moonzy1,
It all depends on how you want the targets to appear. The LF side of the 509 has a narrow for/aft beam width so the targets will only appear slightly longer than you will see on the DFF3D. If you want a target that has more of an "arch" you will need to use a wide beam.
