NavPilot 300 and Mercury Verado Power Steering

I was watching the autopilot video and Eric mentioned that some outboard power steering systems could be used to power the autopilot. I am in the process of building a 29' SeaVee with Verados and Mercury power steering. Will I need a separate hydraulic pump or can the Mercury system be used to run the pilot?

Verados normally require a small pump placed up by the helm prior to the existing power steering system (like they did in the video). If your system has a dedicated autopilot connection, then it is possible to drive the steering direct.
