MFD12 overheat?

I've had 2 instances now of my master MFD12 smelling of burning electronics and beeping incessantly. Any suggestions past pulling the unit and sending it back for service?

Where/how is the MFD12 mounted? It needs to be mounted in a location that allows air movement across the back of the unit so that the heat it generates can be removed.

Its flush mounted into the same dashboard it has been in for 6 years with the same 6 gallon hydraulic fluid reservoir which does get hot the same 12" below it that that too has been for 6 years.

Another forum has suggested I take a good look at voltage and 12V connections as low voltage could increase current and with that increase heat.

I should mention the unit was physically hot when I touched it yesterday which was perhasp a 65 degree day out. It has never been hot before in 6 years and a number of 36 hour + trips!
