marking waypoints on vx2 radar screen

hello, my garmin chart plotter and vx 2 are communicating via nmea 0183, i don’t have a gps sensor for the vx2 but it receives the gps coordinates from the garmin ,this weekend i tried marking a waypoint on the radar screen and it would not allow me to, also would not allow me to set up the watchman even though on the radar screen i can move the cursor over the target and see the gps coordinates, is there something i need to do in the menu or could it be that i need the gp antenna to use that function

The manual states (pg 2-23) you must setup a guard zone for watchman. Did you setup a guard zone prior to trying to turn the feature on?

I don't see that making a waypoint from a radar only screen is an option for the Vx2. If you had heading data along with your GPS, where radar overlay can be accomplished, you can drop waypoints.

yea i tried setting up a guard zone


oh so maybe on the radar screen u can only mark a waypoint if u have overlay cause the overlay would be like a chartplotter with the radar, got it
