Iam setting up a old small boat of mine with a Fcv-588 and a GP-1971F for a chartplotter.
I had a Fcv-295 and a Garmin chartplotter on a boat I just sold. Used the Markfish to
mark waypoints from the 295 to the Garmin and it worked great.

Do I need the Markfish to do this with the 588 and the GP-1971F ?

Yes the GP-1971F can be interfaced to the FCV-588 for marking targets.
