Lost targets

I have Nav Net 2 Radar. It’s set up with NMEA 0183 connection. Last Fall I had to install new auto pilot (Simrad) which included NMEA 2000 connection. I also have AIS FA-150. Ever since that install, my radar doesn’t show any ship targets.

I have been going through manual to see if I can find solution, but I wonder if it has anything to do with the difference in NMEA connections.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you.

Are you saying that AIS targets are no longer visible or all targets?

The Navnet 2 system does not accept NMEA2000 only 0183. Unless there is an N2K to 0183 converter installed you are no longer receiving a heading message from the compass.

Thank you for your response. AIS targets aren’t visible.

I am checking with my installer to see if converter was installed. I am guessing not. Is it difficult to install?

As chance would have it the dealer you worked with on this just contacted us. They should be giving you a call soon. The NMEA2000 to NMEA0183 converters are not difficult to install. However, it sounds like your vessel has an intricate NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 system between the Simrad Autopilot, NobelTec computer and Furuno Vx2. It will need to be mapped out in order to discover if they can provide you a working solution to get your AIS targets back on your radar display.
