Internal Battery for 1650 DGPS

So after 23 years my internal battery needs replacing. I'm in NJ/PA.

Any suggestions on who might service my unit? I'm not trying to save my WP, thankfully I have them all backed up. BUT I do highly prefer Furuno units and would pay some $$$ to keep it going!!

You can send in the unit to Furuno's repair center in Camas, WA to have it replaced or take it into a local authorized Furuno dealer for service. The part no. for that battery is 001-428-240-00.

If you don't replace the battery, than it won't save any of your waypoints or tracks once you power cycle it.

This is a very common repair, and it might be easier than finding something else to replace it with. Though, If you were to consider upgrading, our current GP1871F (7") or GP1971F (9") replaces them. Upgrading, you would be able to remove that DGPS antenna (because it's internal now) and use CHIRP transducers like the TM165HW, as well as your choice now of Navionics+/Platinum or CMAP 4D charting!

OK So I found a place not too far away that will help for under $200. But just by chance I went and looked at the 1871 and for the price I basically HAVE to go with the new unit. I can not see info on the 1971 though?

So I get GPS chart plotter with Chirp capability. I've also been toying with NavNet aa well. I have a old radar unit I think it's a 1720, and it's 20 years old too. I'm seeing wireless connectivity to some part of Furuno instruments. So I guess I'll have to call some show rooms for assistance/explanations.

I have a Garmin w Airmar chirp on board and don't mind saying it's not what I had hoped for.

The GP1871F/GP1971Fs are light years ahead in technology from the 1650s. The GPS is internal in them, and they support the 1kW single-channel chirp along with the 50kHz/200kHz XDRs. You might consider running two stations, keeping the radar separate and just updating the plotter and sounder, putting that CHIRP on a Furuno instead.

So both those units would work with a Airmar B75M ??

I just double-checked and yes, the B75M is supported and listed in the GP1971F/1871F transducer setup list.
