If I was to replace my MFD8 (slave) what would be my options for faster/brighter screen.

Wondering if there is an option to go with a newer MFD, but keep the rest of my system functioning in NN3D. I have a MFD12 (master) radar and depth and wind instruments. The MFD8 is at the helm and a bit hard to see these days in bright light.

The problem you have is that you cannot have a conventional multidisplay system networked over ethernet with a NN3D and a later generation TZT2,3 or XL. So you certainly install a newer generation unit such as a TZT3 or XL but you would not be able to share the radar over ethernet with the NN3D. You could share the depth, wind and AIS data with the new unit over NMEA 2000.

If you want to replace the existing NN3D display altogether, I believe that your DRS2D can be connected to a TZT3 or XL, assuming you have a 48V power supply for it, since it is an ethernet-based radar. So you have a big range of options depending upon your budget and helm space and whether you want a touch screen-only system or a hybrid control panel with knobs and buttons like the NN3D. A low-cost solution might be to find a used TZT2 unit in good condition, which can also support the radar and NMEA 2000 sensors (and the AIS with a converter). The TZT 3 displays are actually a little brighter than the TZT XL by the way.
