Heading Data to RDP 139 from Simrad AP 28 Autopilot

Hi,

My first post. Thanks for any input on my issue.

I have a RDP 139 Radar/Plotter on my 40 Cabo Express.

I recently upgraded my Simrad AP 20 to a AP 28. The old AP 20 gave heading data over 0183 to my Furuno RDP 139. I am having trouble getting the new AP 28 to supply this data to the Furuno RDP 139.

I do have 0183 output to my ICOM 604 VHF DSC via a Simrad NSS EVO 2 GPS Unit.

The AP 28 is a simnet to NMEA 2000 backbone connection.

The RDP 139 has it own dedicated GPS Sensor, I am getting my current position on the Chart plotter. But I am getting a alarm on the screen which I assume is a heading input error.

The New AP 28 has a RC 42 Rate compass for heading information.

How do I get this information from the NMEA 2000 backbone or Simnet bus into the RDP 139?

Is there a cable for date port 3(heading input port) to either the simnet bus or the N2K backbone?

Or do I need a N2K convertor to 0183 or simnet convertor to 0183 to get this heading data from AP 28 to the RDP 139.

Johnny electron would love your input on my question.
Many Thanks.

You would need a NMEA2000 to 0183 converter like the Furuno IF-NMEA2k2 or the Simrad AT10. You would attach the converter to an open connection on your NMEA 2000 backbone then the wire the open wires to your heading cable (data 3) which was previously connected to your older 0183 pilot.
