GP39 Help

Thinking about purchasing a GP39 for the ability of connecting an FCV587 bottom machine to provide GPS coordinates and receive TLL sentence for marking spots. I would also like to convert LORAN numbers with it.

Does anyone know if this unit will work for both of my applications? I’ve heard the GP32 is great for the loran conversions but doesn’t support the TLL. Please advise if the new GP39 can do both.

Thank you!

Yes, the GP39 will take the TLL from the sounder and it also can be set to display Loran coordinates.

I see it can display loran format but can it convert loran numbers to gps format like the GP32? I’ve been told to purchase an old GP32 to convert some loran numbers I have but would like one unit to do both and don’t see that info on anything I’ve read about the GP39.

With Loran conversion all points are stored a Lat/Long internally. But if you choose to display in TD's it will convert that point or position. If you enter a point you can view it as either format.
