GP33 Satelite status

So a new install for a GP33 shows the following screens for satelite status. I’m assuming I should get better satelite reception? Antennae is mounted on top with unobstructed clear views. Unit had been on for over 30 minutes.

Also GP33 does not seem to be displaying waypoint I for from N2K network when attached TZT has a goto waypoint displayed. What settings do I check?

Can't say anything regarding satellite status. But that you are not 'seeing' a goto waypoint from the TZT is to be expected, as the GP33 does not receive any such data. It would need to receive PGN 129283/284 to do that. You could set a goto waypoint on the GP33 and it would send it out for the Autopilot as an alternative to the TZT doing that. But inversely the TZT would behave the same way and not display an 'external' waypoint coming from the GP33. Networked TZT's of course share such info among them.

Definitely not what you should see after half an hour in unobstructed view. Best guess would be to check antenna cable and plug. Maybe you were unlucky and the unit had a problem to begin with. If you happen to have another GPS antenna with a TNC plug, it would be worth trying.

As far as I can tell no.

PGN129285 is listed on the output PGN list and it means the GP33 will send a series of PGN129285 messages, one message per waypoint in the route, once when you activate the route. It will then continue to send PGN129283 and PGN129284 once every second as long as your route is active. The later two are what the autopilot needs to steer to the next WP.

However the GP33 does not receive PGN129285 from another plotter that is activating a route.

What it means is, that you cannot display a highway, BTW, DTW, XTE when another plotter is in control of the active route if you are not reading 129283/284 and you cannot display TTG, DTD etc, if you cannot receive 129285.

The TZT2s exchange this information between them via NavNet and so it work across those plotters, but it doesn't seem to work via NMEA2000.

Ya, sure would be nice if the GP33 and TZT2 could share 129283/129284/129285 so they could display TZT2 waypoint info on the GP and visa Versa.
