GP1971F Inside-hull Traansducer Question

I just ordered a 1971F to replace my old FFCV-582L. It came with the 520-5MSD IN-HULL Transducer. According to the compatibily charts this will work. Is anyone running this combination with success? I fish Central Basin Lake Erie with a max depth of 80 ft. Any comments/suggestions very much appreciated!
 
It will work better than the older FCV. Ideally in that shallow of water at some stage you might want to look at upgrading the transducer to a Chirp High Wide that will give you better bottom coverage and resolution.
