Hi there, after checking the compatible transducer page I ordered myself a 1971 with a TM165 CHIRP transducer. Unfortunately I can't see any option to select the TM165 in the transducer list.

I have updated to the latest firmware and operating system (v3) thanks for any help.

I am not sure who guided you to that combination. The TM165HW is not considered compatible, "YET". New software is required. Even from Airmar's website they explain new software is needed.TM165.JPG Trying to use it in advance of the software support can be a bit problematic because the T-ID in the transducer and that sounder will normally report it'self as a 525STID-PWD. I know of one customer who cut the TID wire and using it set manually as a different model and it is working well for him (so far). I can check to see what selection they used, if you really want to go that route. Before you do anything I would recommend checking the water temp reading from that transducer. Airmar had some go out that had problems with temp and had to be pulled back. I surely wouldn't go cutting into the cable until you check that your temp is good.

Thanks Johnny, as helpful as always, much appreciated!

Well on the Furuno page - https://www.furunousa.com/en/products/gp1971f

It lists the TM165HW in its accessories list? Certainly caught me out, I've been hearing great reports on the 165 so I thought it would be a great combo.

However as you wisely note Furuno themselves have confirmed I've gotta wait for the new software. Apparently I can, in the meantime select the 600W 50/200 option in the transducer list and use it as a basic transducer in the meantime. Hopefully it will perform ok and I certainly don't want to cut wires on my new $500 trans :)

I talked to the guy running his. He is setup for the B75H and loving it. Because it isn't supported until V4, I can't say one way or the other but I am glad I could at least help with information.
