Just wondering to get the AIS data to overlay on the GP1971F chartplotter, is it as simple as plugging a nmea 2000 cable from a VHF/AIS /dsc radio to the GP1971F ? Or does it need some other box or add on?
The answer is basically yes. However, NMEA2000 must be a proper backbone configuration with 2 terminators. The VHF and the GP1971F will be a drop to the backbone.
