Gp1870f to Vx2 1834c via can bus

So I currently have a gp1870f on my boat and have been looking for another dual unit so I can run just a sounder on one and a chartplotter on the other, or both on just one. So have seen a navnetvx2 come up on our local auction site, with the sounder module, and was wondering if the two could be linked easily or whether there is a lot more to it.

There would be limited communications and you must do some assorted wiring. Keep in mind the GP1870F is a NMEA 2000 device and the 1834c is an NMEA 0183 device. You might be better off with another GP1870F or maybe one of the newer units like the GP1871F/1971F.
