I have a 1971 connected to a B175-HW. Works great but not the best for bottom fishing. My question is would it be worth changing to a B175 H? I fish GOM rarely deeper than 175’.

Thank you

Airmar has a cool 2021 Bottom Coverage Calculator on their website. You can tool around with different transducers and "guesstimate" coverage based on the type and depth you're fishing in.

Typically for bottom fishing, you want transducers with a quality Low (L) or Medium (M) elements and less keen on CHIRP, so like a B60 maybe.

Hope this helps, :sail

Since I already have the B175HW installed the B60 will not fill the hole. What transducer would be best for bottom fishing in less than 200’ that fits the existing hole?

Another option to consider......I wanted both since I bottom fish and troll for pelagics. I installed two 1971s and have a B175HW and B60. It works well like this and provides some backup should I have any issue with one system while out on a trip. I like to compare the water temp coming from both units as well, since I've had issues with accurate water temp in the past coming from the B60.
