Can you tell me if Furuno PG-1000 can connect to my Garmin GPSMAP 527 as a
heading sensor.

I would like for my GPSMAP 527 to show the exact heading when the boat isn't
moving.

Thanks

Vladan !

If your Garmin has an NMEA0183 input and accepts an HDG,HDT, or HDG message then it should work.

Dear mr,

Could you send me wiring point to point with Garmin GPSMAP 527 and Furuno PG 1000 via NMEA 0813.

Thanks,
Vladan

The NMEA output wires on the PG1000 are White (+) and Black (-) using standard marine NMEA 0183 RS-422. The Garmin appears to need RS-232 PC level NMEA 0183. To connect it properly, you will need a RS422 to RS-232 level converter. You might discuss this with Garmin.

Johnny,

I have connected my Furuno FCV 587 with Garmin GPSMAP 527 without the convertor by connecting Furuno minus with Ground of Garmin and it works with no issue.

Can I connect the Furuno PG 1000 with the Garmin GPSMP 527 :

Furuno TD-A -> Garmin NMEA 0813 internal port 1 Rx (in)
Furuno TD-B -> Garmin NMEA 0813 Ground

Connection without a proper level converter will work about 90% of the time until the 10% when it doesn't work at the worst time. Hopefully it holds up for you.
